Lighting
While mornings are often quieter, the sun rises behind the city, making the light more challenging than many visitors expect. For the most flattering light and the classic Baker Beach experience, I generally recommend late afternoon through sunset.

Parking
Free parking is available in the Baker Beach parking lot. It can fill quickly on warm weekends and holidays, so arriving a few minutes early is always a good idea.
What to Wear
Comfortable shoes are recommended, especially if you'd like to explore different areas of the beach. Layers are also a smart choice—even sunny afternoons can become cool once the ocean breeze picks up. I always encourage my clients to go barefoot to experience the sand and ocean surf.
