Located just above Baker Beach, this historic overlook combines panoramic bridge views, coastal bluffs, cypress trees, native landscapes, and hidden trails—all within a few minutes of parking. It's one of my favorite locations because we can create an incredible variety of images while spending more time enjoying the experience than walking between locations.

The last hour before sunset is my favorite time to photograph Battery Godfrey. Warm light wraps around the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific begins to glow, and the surrounding cypress trees add depth and color to your portraits.
Fog
Fog is part of San Francisco's charm. Sometimes it drifts around the bridge, creating dramatic, moody images. Other times it clears just before sunset, revealing spectacular views. Either way, it often produces some of the most memorable photographs.
Wind
Battery Godfrey sits on the coastline, so a light breeze is common. Flowing dresses, movement in your hair, and the natural surroundings often add life and energy to your images. I do recommend bringing an extra layer, especially for evening sessions.
Lighting
